Management Aptitude Test [MAT] 2017

Exam Description:

Management Aptitude Test (MAT)2017:

Approved by the Govt. of India, Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD); Management Aptitude Test (MAT) is a national level entrance exam conducted by All India Management Association (AIMA) to grant admissions to the post graduate management courses.
The MAT exam is usually conducted four times a year, in the months of February, May, September, and December to enroll students in MBA and allied programs.
The scores obtained in the MAT exam are considered by more than 600 B-schools throughout the country.
The scorecards issued to the candidates in the MAT exam are also considered by some international B-schools. The MAT exam can be taken in an online or offline mode. The necessary details regarding the MAT exam can be obtained from the official website of AIMA.

Eligibility
Eligibility Criteria for MAT 2017:
  • It is important that all candidates ensure that they are eligible to apply for the MAT exam before proceeding with the MAT application process. The eligibility criteria for MAT has to be satisfied by the candidates or they are not eligible to write the MAT exam. All conditions of the MAT eligibility criteria must be satisfied.
The eligibility criteria for appearing in MAT are as follows:
  • The minimum eligibility criteria is that applicants must have completed their graduation course in any discipline from a recognized Board or University.
  • Applicants appearing in the final year exams of their graduation course are also eligible apply for MAT.
  • MAT Applicant must have obtained at least 50% marks in their graduation course. The score limit for SC/ST candidates to be eligible is 45%.
  • The NRI candidates are also eligible to apply for MAT exam.
  • There is no age limit for candidates to be eligible to apply for the MAT exam. 
  • There is no limit to the number of attempts that can made in this exam.

Syllabus
MAT Syllabus for 2017:

The MAT exam contains questions from the following domains:

  • Language Comprehension  - This section will comprise of two sections i.e. Reading Comprehension and English Vocabulary & Grammar. It contain topics like Verbal Reasoning, Syllogisms, Using the same word with different meaning, Antonyms, Idioms, Contextual Usage, Analogies, One word substitution, Fill in the blanks, Odd man out, Jumbled Paragraphs, Sentence Completion, Sentence Correction and Foreign language words used in English.
  • Mathematical skills - This part will have topics like Ratios and proportions, In equations Quadratic & linear equations,Profit and Loss, Geometry, Percentages, Averages, Time-Speed-Distance, Geometric Progression, Partnership (Accounts), Number System, Work and Time, HCF & LCM and Vectors.
  • Data Analysis and Sufficiency - The questions of Data Interpretation are mostly based on different graphs such as Puzzles, Series, Table Charts, Data Sufficiency, Bar Graphs, Graphs, Line Charts, Column Graphs, Pie Chart, Venn Diagram and many others.
  • Intelligence and Critical Reasoning - This section contains Mathematical Reasoning & Verbal Ability Question and different topics like Critical Reasoning, Sequencing,Visual reasoning, Coding and Decoding, Identifying valid interferences, Assumption-Premise-Conclusion, Statements & Assumptions, Matrix arrangement, Identifying reasons, Linear arrangements, Family tree, Effect & Cause, etc.               
  • Indian and Global Environment - In this section, questions will be asked from various topics like Current Affairs, Quotations from important personalities,Geography, History, Business, Major events in corporate, Books and authors, Science, Awards, Company punch lines, Top officials of big companies, Sports, Entertainment, Politics etc.

Mode of application
MAT Application Process: for 2017:

The applicants need to follow the following procedure to apply for MAT 2017:
  • Applicants appearing for the MAT exam need to open the official website of AIMA.
  • Click on the link to fill online registration form on the website.
  • Fill in the required details and attach the required documents.
  • Fill the details of the Demand Draft and submit the form.

MAT 2017 Application Form:

  • The application form for MAT 2017 will be available at the official website of AIMA from the first week of December 2016.
  • Eligible candidates can apply online.
  • Candidates need to submit the completely filled MAT  forms along with their passport size photographs and attached required documents.
  • The candidates belonging to SC, ST categories also need to submit their category proof forms duly signed by the required officers as mentioned in the application form.
  • The applicants are advised to carefully go through each and every clause before submitting the MAT application forms to avoid any discrepancy or cancellation later on. Once the forms are submitted, an acknowledgment slip is issued to the candidates to ensure successful submission and verification of MAT form.In case the payment is made via DD, the candidates need to send a printed copy of the completely filled MAT application form and the auto-generated Registration number in the acknowledgment slip.

Registration Fees for MAT 2017:

All the applicants are required to pay a fee of Rs. 1200/-.

  • The fees is kept same for the candidates belonging to SC, ST categories. The candidates can pay the examination fee via Debit/Credit card, online via net banking, or through a Demand Draft (DD) issued in favour of AIMA, payable at any bank in Delhi.
