Telangana State Law Common Entrance Test [TS LAWCET] 2017

Exam Description:

 Kakatiya University is located in the historical City of Warangal in northern Telengana State. The University has been named after the great Kakatiya Dynasty which ruled this region with Warangal as capital during the twelfth and thirteenth centuries. The term “Kakatiya” strikes an emotional chord in the hearts of the Telugu people. Kakatiya University was established on 19th August, 1976 to fulfill the aspirations of the people of Telangana Region for higher education. The founding of the University was in fact a historic event in the sense that heralded a new era in the realms of higher education of this region. The erstwhile Post-Graduate Centre of Osmania University was upgraded and named as Kakatiya University. The development of the University over the years has been gradual but impressive. The University was initially accredited with B+ grade by the NAAC in 2002 and reaccredited with 'A' grade in 2008. The University situated in a sprawling area of about 650 acres, has now 24 departments in four colleges on the campus with a network of ten constituent colleges and 471 affiliated colleges.

Eligibility Criteria for TS LAWCET 2017:

Eligibility Criteria for Admission to 3-year LLB Course:

  • Candidates who wish to appear for TS LAWCET 2017 should be Indian Nationals and should satisfy local/non-local status requirements as per the Andhra Government regulations.
  • Candidates must have cleared the graduate degree examinations of a 3-year course (10+2+3 pattern) from any recognised university with a minimum of 45% aggregate marks (40% for SC/ST categories).
  • If the candidate has secured less than 45% in graduation, he/she must have passed any additional graduation or post graduate course with 45% aggregate marks.
  • Admission to colleges depends on its recognition/affiliation according to norms of the statutory bodies.
  • Candidates must secure at least 35% marks in TS LAWCET 2017 (42 out of 120). There is no relaxation of marks for SC/ST categories.

Eligibility Criteria for Admission to 5-year LLB Course:

  • Candidates who wish to appear for TS LAWCET 2017 and gain admission for the 5-year LLB course must have cleared the Higher Secondary Certificate Examination (10+2 level) from any recognised board/council with a minimum of 45% aggregate marks (40% for SC/ST categories).
  • Admission to colleges depends on its recognition/affiliation according to norms of the statutory bodies.
  • Candidates must secure at least 35% marks in TS LAWCET 2017 (42 out of 120). There is no relaxation of marks for SC/ST categories.

Eligibility Criteria for Candidates Appearing for TS PGLCET 2017 (2-year LLM Course):

  • Candidates who possess LLB or BA LLB degree (3 or 5 years) are eligible to apply for TS PGLCET 2017.
  • Candidates who have appeared or are appearing for LLB or BA LLB final year examinations in the same year are also eligible to take up TS PGLCET.
  • Candidates can appear for TS PGLCET 2017 if they are still expecting their final year results, however, they should have passed the same before the counselling dates.

  • Constitutional Law - Nature of the constitution: Fundamental Rights, Directive Principles of State Policy, Executive Judiciary and Legislature, Center-State Relations, Emergency provisions, Amendments to the constitution.
  • International Law - International Law and Municipal Law, Subjects, State Territory, Air, Sea and outer space, Nationality and Statelessness, Extradition, Asylum, State Jurisdiction, United Nations.
  • Mercantile Law - General Principles of Contract (Sections. 1-75, Indian Contract Act - 1872).

Mode of application

TS LAWCET 2017 Application Procedure:

Application forms for TS LAWCET 2017 will be via online mode ONLY. Candidates can find the application forms on the official website of TS LAWCET 2017 (tslawcet.org) and the TS LAWCET 2017 application form must be filled online itself. Instructions on the application process are given on the official website, which candidates must go through before they begin filling in the TS LAWCET 2017 application forms.

Candidates must keep necessary images/documents ready before they start filling in the TS LAWCET 2017 application form.

Candidates must go to the Apply Online link, where they will be guided through the process and must upload the photograph, signature and any other required documents, fill in all personal and contact details which will be printed on the TS LAWCET 2017 admit card. Candidates must ensure to give correct, authentic information, failing which they will not be admitted for the TS LAWCET 2017 examination. The maximum size of the photograph uploaded must be within 30kb, and the scanned signature image must be within 15kb.

Once candidates have filled in the online TS LAWCET 2017 application form, they must click on Submit. An online copy of the TS LAWCET 2017 application form will be generated, which candidates must download and print out, to be kept for reference until the admission procedures are completed.

Candidates need not post the hard copy of the TS LAWCET 2017 application form or any documents, these will only be required at the time of counselling.
