KEAM [Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical Entrance Exam] 2019

Exam Description:

KEAM 2019 is a state level qualifying exam providing admissions into the UG Engineering programs offered by various government and private colleges of the state. It is conducted by the Commissioner of Entrance Examination (CEE), Kerala annually. KEAM 2019 Application Form will be commenced from the first week of February 2019. The exam is scheduled for April 23 & 24, 2019 in offline mode. The examination will be conducted in 352 centers including 14 districts in Kerala, Delhi, Mumbai and Dubai.

Eligibility

The CEE set the parameters for candidates who can or can not apply for the state level examination. KEAM 2019 Eligibility conditions are set on the basis of age, academics, nationality and nativity criteria. For this year, Paper 1 and Paper 2 are scheduled on April 23 and 24 respectively. 
The minimum academic qualification required to appear for KEAM 2019 is passing or appearing in Class XII or Higher Secondary examination. Only Indian Nationals can apply for KEAM. However, OCI (Overseas Citizens of India) and PIO (Persons of Indian Origin) candidates will also be considered Indian citizens and can apply. 

Applicants should have completed 17 years of age as on December 31, 2019. There is no relaxation for minimum age and there is no upper limit for the exam. Read on to know more about eligibility conditions as mentioned in KEAM 2019 prospectus.

The academic qualification needed for engineering and medical/allied courses are different. The minimum academic qualification required for admission to any course is passing class XII or higher secondary examination with science subjects. Candidates appearing for the exam can also apply for KEAM 2019.

Qualification for Medical/ Allied Courses

MBBS, BDS, BSMS

  • Candidates have to pass higher secondary examination of “Board of Higher secondary education, Kerala”  with 50% marks in Biology/Biotechnology, Physics and Chemistry put together.
  • Candidates need to secure 50% marks in Biology separately.
  • In the absence of Biology, Biotechnology will be considered as a subject
  • Only NEET qualifiers for the same academic sessions are eligible to apply for the exam. 

BAMS/ BHMS

  • Candidates have to pass higher secondary examination of “Board of Higher secondary education,

  •  Kerala” with 50% marks in   Biology/Biotechnology, Physics and Chemistry put together.
  • Candidates need to secure 50% marks in Biology separately.
  • In the absence of Biology, Biotechnology will not be considered as a subject.
  • Only NEET qualifiers for the same academic sessions are eligible to apply for the exam.

BUMS

  • Candidates who are seeking admissions in main Kamil-E-Tib-Wa-Jarahat (Bachelor of Unani Medicine and Surgery- BUMS) have to pass higher secondary examination of “Board of Higher secondary education, Kerala” with 50% marks in   Biology/Biotechnology, Physics and Chemistry put together.
  • Also, candidates need to secure 50% marks in Biology separately.
  • Candidates should have to pass 10th standard with Urdu or Arabic or Persian language as a subject or should have cleared Urdu entrance examination conducted by Kerala Government.
  • Only NEET qualifiers for the same academic sessions are eligible to apply for the exam.

B.Sc. (Hons.)Agri., B.Sc. (Hons.)Forestry, BF Sc. courses

  • Candidates have to pass higher secondary examination of “Board of Higher secondary education, Kerala” with 50% marks in   Biology/Biotechnology, Physics and Chemistry put together.
  • Also, candidates need to secure 50% marks in Biology separately.
  • In the absence of Biology, Biotechnology will not be considered as a subject.

BVSc. & AH course

  • Candidates have to pass higher secondary examination of Board of Higher secondary education, Kerala with 50% marks in Biology, Physics, Chemistry and English put together.

B.Sc. Degree Holders

  • Candidates have to pass B.Sc. degree (Three-year course) with Physics/ Chemistry/Zoology/Botany or Biotechnology as main, and 2 of the above-given subjects as subsidiaries.
  • Candidates need to secure a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in main and subsidiaries take together.
  • Also, they have to qualify the higher secondary education with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as main subjects.

Qualification for Engineering courses

Candidates who want to get into Engineering courses have to fulfill the criteria given below.

  • Candidates have to pass higher secondary examination of Board of Higher secondary education, Kerala with 50% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together.
  • Also, candidates need to secure 50% marks in Mathematics separately.
  • Candidates who have passed higher secondary examination of Board of Higher secondary education, Kerala with 45% marks in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together are eligible for admissions in management quota.
  • In case candidate has not studied Chemistry, then the marks obtained by the candidate in Computer Science will be considered.
  • In case candidate has not studied Chemistry and Computer Science, then the marks obtained by the candidate in Biotechnology will be considered.
  • In case candidate has not studied Chemistry, Computer Science and Biotechnology, then the marks obtained by the candidate in Biology will be considered.

Qualification for Architectural courses

Candidates who want to get into Architectural courses have to fulfill the criteria given below.

  • Candidates have to qualify for the higher secondary examination or any other equivalent examination.
  • Also, those candidates who have qualified 10+3 diploma in any stream with Mathematics as one of the subjects can also apply for KEAM 2019.
  • Along with the above-given eligibility criteria, candidates need to qualify the NATA  examination with minimum eligibility marks so as to et considered for Architectural courses.
  • Candidates are advised to take NATA on or before 10/06/2019

Qualification for Pharmacy Courses

The admissions to Pharmacy Courses are done based on the mark obtained by the candidate in the Physics & Chemistry Paper and the rank list prepared based on that. All candidates who want to join Pharmacy courses based on their rank in KEAM entrance examination have to fulfil the following criteria.

  • Candidates should be Indian citizens.
  • Candidates have to pass the higher secondary examination with 50% marks in Biology/ Mathematics separately and Biology/ Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together.

Relaxation in marks

  • Candidates belonging to socially and economically backward classes have a relaxation of 5% marks in the qualifying examination.
  • They only need 45% marks in Mathematics/ Biology and 45% marks in Mathematics/ Biology, Physics and Chemistry put together.

Mode of application

A candidate who does not belong to SC/ST communities will be treated as 'General' candidate for the collection of application fee. The application fee for all candidates will be as follows :

Mode of Payment of KEAM Application Fee 2018 Candidate can pay application fee in either of the two following methods:

 Online Payment : The fee may be paid by credit card / debit card / Internet Banking. On successful payment of fee, a Payment Confirmation Page will appear displaying the message 'Transaction Successful'. If the payment is unsuccessful, the message Transaction Unsuccessful' will be displayed. Due to communication failure, if the outcome of the payment attempt is not displayed, the 'Payment' tab in the candidate's home page should be checked to see if it has turned green. 

If not. the transaction was unsuccessful and the payment needs to be made again and ensure that it's successful. If the amount was debited from the account of the candidate for an unsuccessful transaction, the debited amount will be reverted to that account within 5-7 working days. 

E-chalan : In case of payment through e-chalan, the payment should be made in all Head /Sub Post Offices in Kerala, in cash. The e-chalan generated from the website after online submission of the application should be handed over to the post office and after depositing the fee plus processing charge, as applicable, the counterfoil ( Candidate's copy ) of the e-chalan must be collected back from the post office official. It must be ensured that the post office official has recorded the Payment ID pertaining to the payment on the counterfoil and put the office stamp and his / her initials at the designated places on the counterfoil. If the payment was successful, the 'Payment' tab in the candidate's home page turns green. 

Candidates are advised to login to the website and examine the 'Payment' tab to make .sure that the fee status has been updated by the post office official. If the payment tab has not turned green, the candidate should immediately contact the concerned post office and get the payment status updated On successful Payment, the required entries in the application will be made automatically. 

Note : The Application fee / additional fee once remitted will not be refunded under any circumstances.
