The Assam Joint Admission Test is conducted by the Director of Technical Education for admission in to undergraduate courses in Engineering , Medical, Regional Dental and Ayurvedic Colleges of the State of Assam. The Assam JAT Test is usually held in the month of May annually at centers and time notified by the Director of Technical Education in Assam Gazette and News papers every year. Joint Admission Test is also conducted for selection of candidates for admission to the first year B.E. course to the two State Government Colleges and REC (for Assam quota only). Candidates who seek for admission in any regional engineering college (against Assam quota) have to apply separately to the principal, Regional Engineering College, Silchar, in addition to appearing in Joint Admission Test.
The test paper will have three papers containing 100 objective type questions with four options from each in physics, chemistry, biology (if applicable) and mathematics of the 12th standard as follows. Duration of exam is for three hours.

Biology - 100 Marks
Assam joint admission test is very competitive and securing a good score in the examination is very important in order to secure admission. It is recommended that the candidate obtains complete clarity on the examination pattern and then make a preparation plan at least one year before the test date, refer previous years question papers, reference books and enroll in a coaching institute.

Candidates need to send a request along with a self - addressed slip and a crossed Demand Draft drawn in favour of Chairman JAM, IIT Delhi payable at New Delhi, which must reach, JAM Office, IIT Delhi.
