Indian Maritime University Common Entrance Test – IMU CET-2019:

IMU CET 2019 is a national level entrance exam conducted by Indian Maritime University, Chennai for students who want to seek admissions in B.Sc, B.Tech, MBA and M.Tech courses in the Marine field.

The Indian Maritime University was founded in 2008 and offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in the field of Marine. The registration process begins in the first week of April and the entrance test is conducted in the first week of June every year. Applicants can get details such as application form, eligibility, exam date, exam pattern, syllabus, admit card, etc. at the official website of the university.

Eligibility

Eligibility Criteria for IMU CET 2019:

The IMU CET eligibility criteria define certain protocols to be followed by the candidates to apply for a course. The IMU CET eligibility criteria are defined by the examination conducting authority. The candidate must ensure that he or she satisfies all the requirements specified by the authorities for the exam as per the eligibility criteria or else his or her candidature will be cancelled.

The eligibility criteria for IMU CET 2017 is as follows:

  • Married candidates are not eligible to appear for the IMU CET exam.
  • Prior to taking admission to any of the courses, the candidates are advised to apply for passport.
  • There is an age relaxation of 5 years for reserved candidates.
  • Candidates who want to seek admission in any of the marine courses must provide medical fitness certificate from any of the doctors approved by the Director General of Shipping to satisfy the eligibility criteria for IMU CET.
  • Candidates, who are appearing for the qualifying exam on or before 31st May 2017 are also eligible to take the IMU CET exam.

 

Courses

Eligibility Criteria 

B.Sc

Pass H.S.C or equivalent examination (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM): 60% & English: 50%) to satisfy the eligibility criteria for IMU CET. 5% relaxation in eligibility marks for SC/ST Candidate.

B.Tech

Pass H.S.C or equivalent examination (PCM: 60% & English: 50%) to satisfy the eligibility criteria for IMU CET. 5% relaxation in eligibility marks for SC/ST Candidate.

B.Tech Lateral Entry

Pass Diploma in Engineering OR Pass H.S.C or equivalent examination (PCM: 60% & English: 50%) to satisfy the eligibility criteria for IMU CET.

5% relaxation in eligibility marks for SC/ST Candidate.

MBA

Bachelor Degree with 50% minimum marks. 50% marks in English Subject in Class 10th/12th/ UG Degree to satisfy the eligibility criteria for IMU CET.

5% relaxation in eligibility marks for SC/ST Candidate.

M.Tech

Graduation or Equivalent with 60% aggregate marks to satisfy the eligibility criteria for IMU CET. 5% relaxation in eligibility marks for SC/ST Candidate.

Age Limit for IMU CET:

The minimum age of the candidate must be 17 years and maximum age must be 25 years on or before 1st August 2017.

Syllabus

IMU CET 2019 Syllabus:

The applicant should be thorough with the syllabus of CBSE, ISE and State Boards of H.S.C class. The syllabus for IMU CET 2019 entrance test includes the following:

Physics

Gravitation, Electromagnetic Induction and A.C., Electrons and Photons, Radioactivity, Semiconductors, Heat Radiation, Wave Motion and Sound, Fluids, S.H.M., Rotational Motion of a Rigid Body, Magnetic Effects of Electric Current, Current Electricity, Electrostatics, Ray Optics, Wave Theory etc.

Chemistry

Nuclear and Radio Chemistry, Halogen Derivatives of Alkanes and organic hydroxy Compounds, Chemistry of Transition and Inner Transition Elements, Electrochemistry, Chemical Thermodynamics and Energetics, Nature of Chemical Bond II, Adsorption and Colloids, Carbohydrates, Proteins and Fats, Chemical Kinetics, Coordination Chemistry etc.

Mathematics

Probability, boolean algebra, linear inequations, limits and continuity, vector and 3-d geometry, matrices, statics & dynamics, indefinite integrals, definite integrals & its application, differential equations, etc

Mode of application

IMU CET 2019 Application Procedure:

The following is the procedure to apply for IMU CET:

  • Applicants who are eligible must log in to the official website of Indian Maritime University which is http://www.imu.edu.in/.
  • Click on the Apply Online Link on the home page. The IMU CET application form appears that the applicant is required to fill in.
  • Fill all the required details in the IMU CET application form.
  • The following are the details asked to fill:
  • Name of the candidate
  • Father’s name
  • Mother’s name
  • Date of birth
  • Postal address
  • Email address
  • Educational qualification
  • Check all the details before submitting the IMU CET form.
  • Upload a recent photo and signature as per the specifications.
  • Attach the required documents such as mark sheets.
  • Click the Submit button to submit the details.
  • Pay the IMU CET application fee by providing bank slip details.
  • Take the print out of the application fee and preserve it for future reference.

The applicants are required to upload the following list of documents while filling the IMU CET application form:

  • Certificate of proof of reserved category
  • High school passing certificate or any other proof of age
  • Certificate showing the passing of H.S.C exam
